[ He orders his oil, and yeah, it looks about as appealing as oil... does. Slimy, thick, brownish black goop. It also comes with a bright pink straw. He still observes Saitama, taking a small sip through his very small mouth port. His model style originally did need to consume oil to exercise certain higher leveled tasks, and so the processing units for the liquid are still in him... But with time, as it became unnecessary, mouth ports became smaller. Much harder to drink from. Straws help. ]

It is ... nice.

[ Something's bugging Saitama. Zenyatta knows, it isn't regret ovr his rude behavior. ]

... The Iris is not... exclusive. I believe you will find you are as welcome within the Iris as so many others.

I have noticed.

I will summarize, then;

Many think I do not have a soul. I know I do. Religion convinces people more than simple words do.

You're right about the religion thing. The ones I know would probably shun you, though. But those religious also don't come with cool glowing arms.

That is why I believe in the Iris. It does not shun me, or my brothers and sisters. It accepts all those who believe in having a soul.

Yeah, I getcha. [He may have stopped paying attention during his longer spiel, but he understood that much. He's almost jealous.] You miss 'em?

I miss them daily.

[ He pauses. ]

...I miss my brother the most.

Like a brother brother? How does that work?

We were made in the same Omnium. It is the closest an omnic can have to a "family" in the traditional sense. But by that logic, I also have thousands of brothers and sisters, most of which I have never known. But Mondatta was the leader of the Shambali. He had guided me, when I had no one else.

Ah, you're a real lucky guy, it sounds like. [He looks back at the bottles, smiling.] A family and a place to belong.

I left them.

[ He says bluntly. ]

I wonder, sometimes, if this was a foolish thing to do. I did finally feel as if I belonged somewhere... I had a family, for once. But I wondered what good I could do for the world, if I stayed in one place, never reaching out to the rest of the world...

Do you think it was?

They live in the mountains of Nepal. Contact has always been difficult, but since Mondatta's assassination, they have sequestered themselves even further from outside contact. Perhaps someday I will see them again. But I am not certain.

Wait, your brother's dead??

[He looks at him, shocked. Way to bury the lede, Zenyatta.]

Yes. He was shot, during one of his speeches about equality.

But there is nothing that can be done about it now.

[He sits in silence for a moment, wishing he had a drink to sip noisily from as a distraction.

However, an idea strikes him based on something Zenyatta had said when he thought Saitama was going to really punch him.]

You couldn't restore his back up...?

He was shot through his processor. Even if he had a back-up, he would have needed to prepare it. And... being who he was, I doubt he would have made one. I have not, myself.

Oh. I was thinking maybe it was auto uploaded to the storm or something.

[He mumbles, mistaking the term "the cloud". He was not tech savvy in the least bit.]

That is not quite how data transfers work.

If I am to die, then it is what was meant to happen.

[He finally grins again.]

Besides, it's no fun if there's no stakes, right?

[He speaks from experience here. No fun in a fight if there's no stakes; life is the same, right?]

I suppose, in a way. I think of it more as... if I am to no longer exist, then it was fate that decided I should cease. I will not allow anyone else the credit.

Right, right. That makes sense for you.

[He has no strong opinion on fate as long as it wasn't tied into BS like prophecy and other mumbo jumbo.]

I suppose I should ask... Is there anything you believe strongly in? It does not have to be religious. I am just... curious.

[He leans back again, arms crossed as he thinks. He could answer "sales" but he supposes he owes Zenyatta a serious answer after pulling the punching trick.

He hums as he thinks, then says:]

I think I did once. But then I ruined it.
